Master and Student climbed a mountain. Since the morning, so it seemed, the peak was covered in clouds and in fog.
Towards the evening they approached the magical border, when the mountain lies behind the climber and the fog around the peak lightens. Pupil and Master thought the goal of their journey right in front of them.
They looked through the fog and they saw clearly.
They stood struck.
The pupil was shivering in fear, the Master however smiled and mumbled quietly: “I suspected this much.”
The mountain did not have a peak.

It seems to me a parable of reaching enlightenment. But it was something that the pupil was not prepared for and so the new experience frightened him.
